Infinite Space [Orange Farm Archive]

Mugen no Kuro

Let’s speak of Infinite Space.
If you want the short version:
Play this game now. It is harder then battletoads, but so rewarding.

If you want the long version:

Okay, so, Infinite Space. Basically your a 14 year old kid named Yuri who buys this hot 20 something year old girl, named Nia, to take him into space, so he can become “Zero-G Dog”. Okay, whatever. Normally, in a more realistic space setting the girl would steal all his money and dump him out the airlock while laughing.

But no, this is ANIME IN SPACE AND WE ARE GOING ON AN ADVENTURE. It’s so over the top. Even the guy who tries to mug you in the bar joins your crew. Because friendship makes us stronger

To skip about 200 words of blathering, you’re suddenly a captain of your own ship. Well, Captain by Courtesy, since your crew consists of Yourself and Nia, and your ship is the equivalent of a rowboat with a pea shooter on it. Sure theirs tons of options for ship building and crew placement (A Chef position? Seriously? This food is so delicious I can aim better? Damnit game) but it’ s nothing like the indepth that Warship Gunner 2 ever had, nor does it seem to actually matter at all.

Let me say this now. For all of the ANIME IN SPACE and SPACE OPERA DRAMATIC AWESOME, BEING THE MAIN CHARACTER DOES NOT STRONGER MAKE YOUR SHIP.

Pictured here: A common player ship

You see that enemy Light Cruiser? with Two Escort Destroyers? Pfft, in any other space game, you use the POWER OF MAIN CHARACTER AND I’M THE PLAYER OUT OF MY WAY to easily win against overwhelming odds. With style, without taking any damage, and racking up massive points for doing so.

Pictured here: Every enemy ship you will face

“Hahah, fuck off”, Goes Infinite Space, as you die the 310309359th time to enemy ships appearing out of nowhere, just before you reach a planet to un-fatigue your crew (Fatigued crew = slower combat = your ship explodes more). “You are a bitch and you get your bitch deserving game over”. It doesn’t make any sense, since enemy ships should be weaker then yours! And you will win battles! It’s just that by sheer attrition of enemy mooks always wanting to pew pew with you that you’ll find yourself facing a game over screen. Thank god for that retreat button.

If you persist long enough, say, past the 2 hour mark, you may find yourself in some kind of plot. With money. Impossibly hard to come by money that seems to magically disappear wherever you go. Money I say! You are so happy! Plot and money! Quickly you buy a second ship and –

Fuck Infinite Space, I don’t even want to play you anymore, no matter how enjoyable your everything is.

SO WHY CAN’T I STOP PLAYING IT

Hahaha….I love the last part X3

I find the game enjoyable, but I’m sort of a mahocist when it comes to the pros overweighing the…..difficulty, so yeah, its hard as nails.

Glad to see people are playing it though XD

Oh! and the mobile suit concept you give as an example is a PERFECT explanation of how stupid you look and how awesome your enemies look
