Continuing right along with Season 2 of Gundam 00! Even though no one reads my Gundam 00 posts anyway(blog stat counters don’t lie!), I will continue to do this until the day the anime ends! *burning hotblood*
You got rejected! You got rejected!
You and me both, Nena.
First of all, the new opening! I’ve heard a lot of complaints about it, but I honestly think it’s better than the first opening. Argh. However, this one is filled with naked women cutins, yet they bothered to completely clothe the men who appeared in the same style. They’re obviously attempting to appeal to the insecure teenage male population.
It’s been HOW MANY episodes, and you guys STILL can’t catch that damn butterfly!?
In any case, the Ptolemy II manages to escape to Earth despite being under fire from not one, not two, but THREE Innovator custom mecha. Apparently smoke GN screens are important and can throw off that kind of pursuit! Why the hell haven’t you been using that?! Also, Setsuna gets there afterwards, sees wreckage, but then Nena tells him they got down safely. Setsuna couldn’t care less about Nena and zooms off.
Meanwhile, COUP-DE-TAT discussion among the Federation! Is it just me, or does he remind you of Henken from Zeta Gundam? He’s letting Sergei in on it. This is actually kind of interesting – both Zeta Gundam and 00 have a branch of the military that’s basically using the Federation as its puppet(Titans and A-LAWS), but this time, the Federation is going to do something about it. I underestimated you, Earth Federation. I thought you could only be evil!
What the hell!!??!??
What a sight to wake up to, eh? Apparently he’s NOT dead, and Saji was able to save him. I’m surprised they didn’t go into that little plot point more – instead Saji angsts about Louise some more, and that’s it.
Angst. Also, yet another fanpairing.
Anyway, Marina has taken up the job of singing to little children. The song is so heartwarming it will make your ears AND eyes bleed.
Anyway, as Setsuna is going to the Ptolemy’s place, he runs into none other than Ali Al-Sarshes, who leads him to Krugis. When out of nowhere – just as if this was all planned! – comes Ribbons, to talk to Setsuna.
Finally a plot twist! Unimportant though it may be, I really didn’t see it coming. Apparently Ribbons was the pilot of the O Gundam back when Setsuna was little, and he chose to save him on a whim.
Alright, wait a second. What was an innovator doing in a Gundam? Did that Gundam even belong to Celestial Being? I assume it did, because it was pretty much intervening in a conflict. The O Gundam was supposedly the testbed for the GN Drive, so I guess whatever that scientist’s name was entrusted it to him to test out, or something.
Anyway, it doesn’t make a bit of difference. It just linked Setsuna and Ribbons a little. Also, Ali gets a shot at Setsuna’s shoulder.
Badass beam claws? Hell yes.
Meanwhile, that night, Celestial Being is fighting for its life against the three Innovators that had followed them to space. And we finally get to see Cherudim’s gimmick…
I never would have expected another Gundam to come out of it! I totally HAVEN’T ever seen this before! Anyway, Tieria kills Bring by doing that, possibly confirming a BAD END for Vowels. Ribbons is pretty pissed at him.
And then comes something else I didn’t expect – more singing.
Fuck! Fuckfuckfuckfuck! What the hell!? They had better have a good explanation for this! Though I’m thinking the weird mind-powers of the quantum particles have something to do with it. But seriously! She sung all throughout the ending! I really hope this is the only musical episode – I had MORE than enough of that in SEED. Arrgghh.
Anyway, as Ali’s had one of his mecha arms cut off, he and the rest of the Innovators retreat, leaving Marina to continue singing with children.
In any case, this episode was filled with crappy music and two plot twists – one of which wasn’t important(Ribbons in O Gundam), the other of which EVERYONE saw coming(Seraphim Gundam). They’re obviously also choosing not to characterize any of the Innovators at all. Drat. Well, enhanced humans/newtypes are all the same anyway.
Sigh. Anyway, the first episode of Rideback was pretty cool, so I think I might pick that up as a series! Good thing Komidol is on vacation, or he might’ve gotten to it first. Bwahaha.
